Abstract

The initial stability of the femoral stem using cement, porous ingrowth implant is much weaker and not securer than the femoral stem using cement fixation, especially within the first six weeks postoperatively.
In 1989, Friedman reported 1 case of displacement of an uncemented femoral stem during the atrempted closed reduction of a dislocation of thetotal hip replacement four weeks afterinsertion. But thereafter no one reported such a
case
in domestic or international literatures. Recently we experienced 1 case of displacement of uncemented porous ingrowth femoral stem during the closed reduction after dislocation of the total hip replacement whichoccured in a 9th
postoperative day. As a result of this experience, we would like to suggst the rationale of prospective management regarding the dislocated uncemented T. H. R which occurred within six weeks postoperatively.
